Torc Waterfall, Killarney National Park
Torc Waterfall is just a short walk through the woodland from the car park on the N71. It is also encountered by those on the Kerry Way walking route. Like all waterfalls it is at its best after heavy rains but well worth a visit at any time. The English novelist and satirist Thackeray wrote “ A man may pass half an hour there and look, and listen, and not even feel the want of a companion, or so much as think of the iced champagne”. If you continue on up the steps above the waterfall there is an excellent view looking across the middle lake. You will have seen the circular route map at the start and this will allow you to do a loop walk through the woods and back to where you started.. |
